Welcome to the CUBIC Lab
We are the CUBIC Lab at the Department of Psychology and Human Development at the UCL Institute of Education (IOE). Our group is led by Eirini Flouri, Professor of Developmental Psychology and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS). Our research group aims to improve our understanding of the factors and the developmental processes associated with the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of the general population, particularly of children and adolescents. To answer our research questions, we use data of different cohort studies, including the Millennium Cohort Study, Understanding Society, and the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children. We link cohort data to data on social and physical environments, such as data of area socio-economic deprivation, air quality, or greenspace. Lately, we also look at the role of biological factors (e.g. inflammation and cortisol levels) in the associations of social and physical environments with young people's well-being.
